NVIDIA widens DirectX 10 gaming choice with the new GeForce 8800-based graphic card.
NVIDIA has made available to their wide range of retailers a new field of graphics cards based on the NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS GPU. These new cards come with 320Mb of video memory and are priced between US$300 and US$400.
These new GeForce GPUs are the first shipping with DirectX 10 API development certification. Other graphics cards supporting DirectX 10 include cards based on the GeForce 8800 GTX starting at US$600 and GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB pricing from US$400.
Cevat Yerli, President of Crytek (www.crytek.com), gave his opinion of the DirectX10 capable GPUs.
“The more gamers that have DirectX 10 capable hardware in their systems, the more incentive game developers have to add the most advanced visual effects to their games,” he said. “When gamers get immersed in Crysis and see the kind of experience DirectX 10 delivers, they will be thankful that NVIDIA led the charge to the next generation of PC games.” Crytek is an interactive entertainment development company dedicated to the creation of high-quality video games including the award-winning ‘Far Cry’ games and the highly anticipated DirectX 10 title "Crysis"
