The Nissan Frontier is a model of pickup truck assembled by Nissan and sold under the Nissan brand. Nissan was the pioneer of the compact pickup truck market in 1959, joined in the 1960s by Toyota. Since 1959, Nissan is known for a number of notable firsts in the compact pickup truck market, including the first extended cab bodystyle (in the 1976 Nissan King Cab) and the first crew cab bodystyle compact pickup in North America, in the 2000 Frontier. Frontiers are currently built in Smyrna, Tennessee, like its immediate predecessor, the Nissan Hardbody Truck.
Look around the road, especially at older Frontiers, Tacomas and Rangers and they look like Tonka trucks. Compared to the current generation of small pickups, anything more than a couple years old is teeny-tiny.
The 2005 Nissan NISMO Frontier is a tough mid-size truck with tons of good looks and added performance features from Nissan's Motorsports group. Built on the F-Alpha platforms shared with its big brother, the full-size Titan, the Frontier sports off-road tuned Bilstein performance shocks, skid plates, and 16-inch wheels with BFGoodrich Rugged Trail tires. It has a 265-hp 4.0-liter V6 engine, 5-speeds automatic transmission, and an electronic locking rear differential and 4-wheel limited slip to help you on your off-road excursions to the mall.
An improved engine provides more power and a sturdier, more rigid ladder frame is found underneath the slightly largerr, restyled body. But the Frontier is true to its heritages, an unpretentious vehicle designed for the hard-working, hard-playing compact truck buyer.
he Utili-track system provides ultimate cargo hauling flexibility through the use of five special "C" cross-section rails mounted in the bed (two channels in the bed floor). Removable utility cleats slide into the channels, providing a wide range of attaching points for securing cargo.
Every 1998 Nissan Frontier has dual airbags with a shutoff switch for the passenger-side bag, a front crumple zone, and side door beams. Two wheel drive models have antilock rear brakes. 4x4s have a sophisticated 4-wheel antilock system

The new truck's wheelbase is 125.9 in (3.20 m) with a 205.5 in (5.22 m) overall length. Towing capacity is 6500 lb (2,950 kg). A 4.0 L VQ-family V6, the VQ40DE, is the standard engine, and it produces a respectable 265 hp (198 kW) with 284 ft·lbf (385 N·m) of torque. Also available is the QR25DE four-cylinder engine, which is also found in the Sentra SE-R Spec V sports sedan. A six-speed manual is standard with a five-speed automatic optional. Both rear and four-wheel drive are available. Traction control and hill-descent control are also available.
